Our native place is Thirunelveli. We live in Kerala. We have been worshipping Amma for several years. I belong to the Theni Vaara Vazhipaatu Mandram. On every Full Moon Day, I attend the weekly prayers. My daughter is a nurse working in a private hospital, in Theni. She is a devotee of Amma. On 24th October, 2002, all of a sudden, she complained about stomach ache. The doctor said that, a scan should be done in order to know the reason for her stomach ache. When the results came, the doctor said that, she was suffering from appendicitis and she had to undergo surgery!
We got the message in Kerala and I started immediately to Theni. I went to the hospital and saw her. She was being given glucose to reduce the pain. It was a Friday. I went to the Vaara Vazhipaatu Mandram to attend the pooja. When I was looking at Amma’s photo, I couldn’t control my tears. The Sakthis at our Mandram did special pooja for the good health of my daughter. They did special meditation. They gave me the Navaratri oil, water from Kalasham, kumkum, and a lemon after keeping them at Amma’s Divine Feet. They specially told me to apply the oil from the Navaratri lamp, on my daughter’s stomach, saying the Moola Manthiram. I did that. The kumkum, lemon, and the Kalasha water were kept near her bed. That night, I had a dream. It was a wonderful dream.
I saw my daughter and me lying on beds, at the Mel Maruvathur Hospital. Amma came to the room, looked at both of us, and went back without saying anything. I woke up from my dream. At once, I woke my daughter up and asked her how she was feeling. She said, “Mother, I don’t feel any pain now! I feel all right.” I told the Sakthis at the Theni Mandram, about my daughter’s improvement. They came to the hospital and applied kumkum on my daughter’s forehead. They consoled me by saying that, my daughter won’t need any surgery. She would become all right by Amma’s blessings. They told me not to worry and that they would pray for her good health.
Still, the doctors said that, the surgery would take place on 27th October, 2002. On that day, early morning at 5:45, I went to the Theni Mandram and did pooja to our Mother. I have heard devotees say that Amma sometimes tests our faith in Her! But, Amma will not disappoint any devotee, who has real faith in Her. It is true! The doctor, who examined my daughter in the afternoon, said that, she didn’t have to undergo an operation! Medicines could cure her. As soon as my daughter heard this, she began to shed tears of joy. She told me that she would send that month’s salary to Amma’s hospital. She added that she would go to Mel Maruvathur, wearing Sakthimalai and carrying Irumudi. She would write to Sakthi Olhi and let everyone know how merciful and kind hearted Amma is! We have no words to express our gratitude to Amma. All that we can do is do service to Amma during our life.
