In August, 2000, a son was born to us. When he was born, he had heart problems. The doctors found that there were blockages in certain important places and also, in the artery! They also said that, his problem was very serious. According to them, even if he underwent surgery, it wouldn’t be successful. They said that, there are different methods of surgeries, but in his case, it was doubtful whether it would be successful. Hearing this, we felt very sad. One day, my brother-in-law came to know about Maruvathur Annai and our Adigalaar Amma. He told us about the wonders, which happen at the Temple. Soon, it happened that Amma made a visit to America. We went to see Amma and got Her blessings. We felt relieved. When my son was fourteen days old, we did Paada Pooja to Amma. Amma blessed us. When my son was six months old, we went to Mel Maruvathur with Sakthimalai Irumudi. When we sat for Arul Vakku, Amma told us that She would take care of my son and prescribed a few medicines.
Once in six months, the doctors would take an echo. They told us that his condition was becoming worse! The only alternative was surgery. We have unshakeable faith in Amma. Hence, we used to give him the prescribed medicines every day. Days were passing by. Last July, the doctors took an MRI and said that, the number of blockages was increasing to such an extent as to affect his lungs! We went to Mel Maruvathur for Adi Pooram festival. Hence, before going to the Temple, we had made an appointment with the doctors, for September 18th, for my son’s final check-up. We offered Kanji to the Divine Mother and did milk abhishekam. Then, we performed Paada Pooja to Amma. Amma was observing silence. So, we couldn’t ask Amma anything about my son’s health. But, Amma looked at my son and made us happy that Her glance had touched him! We came back to Canada satisfied.
When we went to the hospital on September 18th, the doctors said to us, “Your son’s condition is very serious! We are going to introduce a metal tube into the artery, to expand it.” I didn’t know what to do. I remained calm, with the deep faith that Amma will take care of my child. While my son was being given anaesthesia, I sat outside the operation theatre and recited 108 Guru Potri fifty one times! Within ten minutes, the doctor, who had carried my son into the operation theatre, came outside and said, “Here is good news for you! We couldn’t find any blockage in your son’s blood vessels. It is amazing! There isn’t any need for a metal tube.” They added that we could go home the same day. Neither my husband, nor I could believe what the doctor said! Where did all the blockages disappear? Is it not our Amma, who opened up all the blockages? Thinking about Amma’s mercy and kindness, we could only shed tears of joy from the depths of our hearts. Thank you, Amma! Thank you!
